Every usability or selfie video a tester submits is transcribed and analyzed automatically, so you can find what matters in an hour of footage without watching all of it. Each video gets a timestamped transcript, key phrases with sentiment, a sentiment overlay on the timeline, and its own list of AI insights, and the same insights roll up across every video on a question and into your test-wide AI Insights report.
Use it when twenty testers have each recorded a ten minute session and you need to know where they struggled, when you want the exact quote and the exact moment a tester said it for a design review, or when you are trying to see whether one tester's complaint was a one-off or something several people hit.
Without it, video feedback is the slowest kind to review: you scrub, you take notes, and you still cannot easily compare one session with another. With it, every insight links to the second in the video where it was said, insights from other testers who said the same thing sit right underneath, and the whole set can be exported.
All plans include basic AI features, and Subscription and Enterprise plans add advanced AI features and customizations, so some of what is described here may not be available on your account.
What happens when a tester submits a video
Processing starts on its own as soon as the upload finishes, in three stages.
Transcription. The video is transcribed with the spoken language detected automatically. Candidates include the tester's preferred language and the languages spoken in their country, so a tester narrating in Portuguese or Japanese gets a real transcript, not an empty one. Every paragraph carries the time in the video where it starts.
Sentiment and key phrases. The transcript is scanned for the phrases testers mention most, each with its own sentiment, and for the sentences that carry the strongest positive and negative feeling. These drive the phrase chips and the colored overlay on the video timeline.
Insights. When your test-wide AI analysis runs, every transcript is read alongside the tester's written answers. Each insight it draws from a video is tied back to the quote that supports it and the second in the video where the quote begins.
The first two stages finish shortly after the upload. Insights appear once a test-wide analysis has completed, which happens automatically when a test finishes, weekly for multi-day tests with enough testers, or whenever you start one yourself. See Test-wide AI insights.
The Video Analysis page
Click any video response in your survey results, or any video quote on the AI Insights page, to open that video's Video Analysis page. The page shows the tester's name, the survey and question the video answers, and previous and next arrows to step through the other videos on the same question.
Transcript, key phrases, and the sentiment timeline
The Transcript tab in the panel beside the video shows the full transcript as timestamped paragraphs, with the strongest positive and negative sentences highlighted. On a narrow screen, expand Transcript & Tester Profile below the player instead.
Click any paragraph to jump the video to that moment. As the video plays, the transcript scrolls to keep the current paragraph in view.
Above the transcript, Full Transcript is followed by chips for the key phrases the tester mentioned, each with a count. Click a phrase to jump to where it was first mentioned.
Hover the video timeline to see the positive and negative moments marked along it, so you can go straight to the strongest reactions.
Click the download icon, with the tooltip Download transcript, to save the transcript as a text file. See Downloading a video transcript.
The tester's Profile and Messages tabs sit beside the transcript, so you can check who they are or message them about something they said without leaving the video.
Insights from this video
Below the player, Insights from this video lists every insight the AI analysis drew from this session, with a count of how many are positive and negative. Each insight shows its supporting quote with a play pill such as 1:09; click the pill and the video jumps to that second.
When other testers on the same question said the same thing, the insight also shows a row of their avatars and a link reading Similar insights from 3 other testers. Expand it to see each tester's own quote, with a play pill that opens their video at that moment in a preview window. The main video pauses while you watch, and View full video analysis in the preview opens that tester's full page.
This is the quickest way to tell a one-off from a pattern. An insight with similar quotes from several testers is worth acting on; one with none is worth a second look before you do.

Sharing a moment
Click Share link above the video to copy a link to this page. Tick Start at 1:09, which shows the current position of the player, to make the link open the video at that moment, which is the simplest way to send a colleague straight to the point a tester got stuck. Download video saves the original file.
If the tester submitted more than one video in this test, All videos from this tester below the insights lists them so you can move between sessions.
AI Video Insights on the survey results page
You do not have to open videos one at a time. On your survey results, every video question has an AI Video Insights section under the question heading that combines the insights from all of the videos submitted for that question.
Open your test's survey results and scroll to a video question. The section opens on its own when insights exist.
Under Most Important Findings, the three strongest insights are listed first, ordered by how many testers' videos support them. Click Show all 12 insights to see the rest.
Click View 4 quotes on any insight to see each tester's quote, with a play pill that opens their video at that moment. Click Hide quotes to collapse it.
Only quotes from videos on that question are included, so a written answer to a different question never shows up here. The section reflects your most recent completed test-wide analysis and updates when the next one completes.
Videos in the test-wide AI Insights report
The AI Insights page for your test reads every tester's video transcripts together with their written answers, so video feedback shapes the feedback categories and the top positive and negative insights just as much as text does.
When you expand an insight with View 6 Testers, each piece of evidence shows the tester, the survey it came from, and the quote. Evidence that came from a video carries a play badge with the timestamp. Click it, or View in context, to watch that moment in a preview without leaving the report; View full video analysis in the preview opens the tester's Video Analysis page.
The same rules apply to video evidence as to text: an insight is only reported when it is supported by at least two testers, and each tester contributes at most one quote per insight. Click Export at the top of the AI Insights page to download the whole report, including a sheet of every quote with its video timestamp and a link back to the moment. See Exporting your test-wide AI insights to a spreadsheet.
Things to know
Insights need speech. A video with no usable narration produces no transcript and is left out of the analysis. If silent videos are a problem on a question, turn on Reject videos without audio in that question's settings and the tester is asked to record again; leave it off and the tester is warned but the video is accepted.
Transcripts are produced in the language the tester spoke and are not translated. Insights and quotes are drawn from the transcript as it was spoken.
Quotes shown with an insight may have punctuation and capitalization tidied for readability. The words are never added to, removed, or changed, and the raw transcript is always available.
Similar insights from other testers are always from videos on the same question, grouped under the same insight by the test-wide analysis. Insights from this video and AI Video Insights both appear only after a test-wide analysis has completed, so a brand new test shows transcripts and sentiment first and insights later.
A play pill that reads View video rather than a time means the quote could not be matched to an exact second; it opens the video from the start.
