Can we have the users sign NDAs?
Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

We respect and understand the value of proprietary and confidential information, and our testers are designed to be private and secure.ย

There are multiple ways to easily share an NDA or test terms when you design a test:

  1. Use the Document Signing question type in your screening survey

  2. Link to an NDA in your screening survey

  3. Share terms or expectations directly in your screening questions

  4. Point testers to Docusign or a similar electronic signature provider (for Pro plans and higher only)

You can learn more about each option below.

Use the Document Signing item type in your screening survey

Clients that subscribe to our Recruit Premium, Professional, or Enterprise plans have access to use the Document Signing screening survey question type.

This question type allows you to upload an NDA or other terms via PDF.

During screening, testers must:

  1. First click to "Download and view the agreement", which initiates a download of your PDF. We store each tester's user ID, IP address, and the date they downloaded the agreement.

  2. Testers must type their name to sign the agreement electronically.

  3. Testers must click the I Agree button.

In the Testers -> Recruiting Results section, you can view the date/time each tester signed the agreement.

By clicking the "Export Digital Signatures" button, you can download a spreadsheet that shows the digital signature details, including:

  • User ID

  • Username

  • View Time (date / time the user downloaded the agreement)

  • IP Address

  • Sign Date (date / time the user signed their name and clicked the "I Agree" button)

  • Agreement name (the name of the PDF you uploaded)

  • Agreement link (a link to the PDF you uploaded).

Note: We do not actually generate a "simulated" digital signature on your PDF document that can be downloaded. Instead, we provide the spreadsheet that shows exactly which users signed your agreement and when.

Link to an NDA in your screening survey

The easiest way to share an NDA is to add a link to an NDA in a screening question and have testers select that they agree or would like to opt out as answer options.

You can upload your document anywhere (Google drive, etc) and link to it in your screening question (note: Professional and Enterprise clients can host your document on BetaTesting).

Testers have to accept your terms before they are allowed into your test, and their answers are linked to their unique BetaTesting userID so you have a record of all responses.

Share terms or expectations directly in your screening questions

Similar to the previous example, you can share your terms in the question directly instead of linking to an external file or document.

Point testers to Docusign or a similar electronic signature provider (for Pro plans and higher only)

If a full signature is required, you can use the screening survey to point testers to an external site to sign directly. We do not recommend this option unless it is absolutely necessary, as adding additional steps will lead to lower participation and more drop-off during recruiting.

This option is only available on our Pro Plans and higher. Contact us if you would like us to provide a custom quote for a Pro subscription or project.
