Our Shipment Tracking feature (launched Oct 2025) automates the normally-complex process of tracking your package shipments for large beta tests.
The Shipment Tracking feature is available for all Multi-Day tests that involve shipping a product. The Multi-Day test type is required for any test that involves shipping a product (since the shipping process takes multiple days).
Reduce your headaches & delivery exceptions
The Shipment Tracking keeps everyone in the loop on deliveries and exceptions, and helps ensure that all your products arrive and are stored safely by testers. Here are the benefits of our new feature:
Easily upload tracking numbers in bulk, or manually input the tracking number for each participant
We integrate with 1,000+ shipment providers, and automatically track shipment status, deliveries, and when testers have the packages in their hands
Track shipment exceptions or missing packages
Testers confirm when they have the package safely
Design your test process so testers get started on your test when you want:
Immediately when each tester confirms they have the package, OR
Only if you have manually initiated the "Active Testing / Unboxing" phase.
Adding the Shipment Tracking feature
You must be using a Multi-Day test with the Advanced Test Workflow (chosen in the Instructions section)
In the test Activities, click the + button an add a Shipment Tracking type.
It will then get added to your test process:
Decide When Testers can Get Started with Unboxing
If you want each testers to begin the test as soon as they individually confirm package delivery:
Create your Unboxing tasks / survey and update the settings so that it is distributed After the Shipment Tracking activity
Do not select the "Wait until you manually initiate Unboxing" checkbox
It will then look something like this (notice it says After "Shipment Tracking").
In this case, each testers will immediately get the Unboxing Tasks & Survey as soon as they confirm package receipt.
If you want all testers to wait until you manually start the Unboxing / Active Testing phase:
Create your Unboxing tasks / survey and update the settings so that it is distributed After the Shipment Tracking activity
Check the checkbox for "Wait until you manually initiate Unboxing"
In this case, testers will need to wait until you manually start the Unboxing / Active Testing phase to receive the Unboxing tasks/survey. On your test dashboard, you will see an update for package deliveries, and you can click the button to start Unboxing / Active Testing anytime.
If you have the Unboxing tasks/survey set to distribute After the Shipment Tracking activity, testers will only receive it once they have confirmed that they safely have the package.
Adding Tracking Numbers for Each Tester
This takes place (probably obviously) after you have formally accepted testers into the test.
You can add shipment tracking numbers in bulk (CSV / Text file / or text box entry). See this article here to learn how
Or you can associate the tracking numbers with individual testers one at a time:
Track Shipment Status Updates
On the Shipment Tracking tab, you can always see the latest shipping updates and filter by Confirmed, Unconfirmed, In Progress, Exception, and Untracked testers.
Untracked: Testers that don't have tracking numbers yet
In Progress: Packages that were shipped and are in progress
Unconfirmed: Packages were delivered (according to the tracking info), but the testers have not yet confirmed that they have the package safely inside
Confirmed: Delivered and confirmed by the tester that they have the package
Exception: There is a reported shipping exception according to the shipper or manually reported by the tester through BetaTesting
Testers & Your Admins Automatically Get Shipping Updates
Our system will automatically send updates to testers and to your admin team.
Emails (and sometimes SMSs) go out to testers when:
You add their tracking number
A heads up 24 hours before estimated delivery
When the package is delivered
If they have still not confirmed that they have the package safely, they continue to get reminded until they do.
Emails go out to admins that have System Notifications enabled when there is a shipping exception (according to the shipper or the tester).
How Testers Confirm they Have the Package
Testers are notified via email upon package delivery, and asked to immediately confirm that they safely have the package inside. If there is a problem or they can't find the package, they can "Report a Delivery Problem".
